Positive feedback from a new student after only 6 lessons

Just received a very encouraging email from the parent of a new piano student, a teenager who just started and has received only six lessons so far.

The student had 5 years of lessons with a previous private teacher, but he was not practicing or making any significant progress because it simply did not “click.”

We are working on a nice mix of songs requested by the student, with songs on his level (customized arrangements taught both by ear and with new sheet music arrangements created just for him) of the Twenty-One Pilots song “House of Gold”, the Charlie Brown theme “Linus and Lucy”, a Bach minuet and some authentic Chicago 12-bar Piano Blues.

Here’s what his mother wrote:

“I think you have motivated my son and his interest in the piano has increased immensely. He’s been practicing everyday, even several times a day, and is really enjoying it.

I am glad that you see progress in the short time you have been working with him.  I am thrilled with the way things are going, and truly enjoy hearing him play.  I know he feels comfortable with you, and looks forward to having his lesson each week.

Thank you so much!”
